For SB, everyday life comes with challenges that most people can’t see. SB lives with a heart condition that causes rapid and unpredictable fluctuations in heart rate—sometimes dropping into the low 50s, other times spiking near 200 beats per minute within seconds. These sudden changes can leave SB dizzy, disoriented, and at risk of losing consciousness, turning even simple daily activities into moments of danger.

That’s where Lilah comes in.

Lilah, a sweet and intelligent Goldendoodle, is in training through Mission: Service Dog to become a cardiac alert service dog. She’s learning to detect and alert to changes in SB’s heart rate before symptoms become overwhelming—giving SB precious time to sit or lie down safely. Lilah will also be trained to provide comfort and grounding after an episode, staying close until SB’s heart rate stabilizes.

very happy to do her job!

Though still in training, Lilah has already made a remarkable difference in SB’s life. Her calm, attentive nature provides reassurance and emotional balance during even the hardest days. Lilah’s program has been fully funded, but her story represents the ongoing mission to bring this same hope to others still waiting for their service dog.

Donations made in honor of Lilah will help fund veterinary care, travel expenses to pick up new puppies, the cost of puppies themselves, housing and feeding for dogs in training, and essential equipment for new handlers. Each contribution helps another team begin their journey toward safety, confidence, and independence.
